An inability to sit still and a love of animals was the genesis of the David Joyner art journey. He was an 8-year-old boy with awful handwriting, who morphed into an awkward teenager with the same penmanship. Shapes and colors became easier for him to leave onto a piece of paper than letters. He began teaching himself to draw and paint with very little personal instruction from another artist. Most of his creative progress has advanced by success through mistakes. His drawing table became a refuge. An easel was a shelter from a world screaming at him to fit in. These voices turned to a whisper.
